AN OVERVIEW

Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (Delhi Chapter) established by Ministry of Tourism Govt. of India and Delhi Tourism on 1st Jan, 1993 for a period of five years and subsequently extended for another five years. The Head Quarters is in Gwalior and have branches / Chapters in Lucknow, Kerala, Cochin and Orissa etc. The Chapter was established for a manpower development and research work in tourism and travel industry. Though the need for a tourism trained graduates had been realized in our country for a long time.

The national Committee in Tourism in its report submitted to Govt. of Indian in 1989, pointed out the acute shortage of Tourism Graduated in Travel and Tourism and pointed that the present system of tourism training program suffered from several weakness both in commitment qualitative and quantitative dimensions. We may spend cores of rupees in building infrastructure, but it is the service personnel who alone can make them alive. Training and retaining of the service personal is considered on impairing fresh mindsets.

Being a nodal agency, DITTM (Delhi Chapter) Keeps in close vigil on the ongoing academic pursuits and activities being undertaken by the public and private bodies at the national and regional levels and has been organizing from time to time training and enrichment courses for tourism teachers as well as seminars and workshops with a view to improve the quality and content of the syllabi of tourism courses in the country.

OBJECTIVES OF DITTM ( DELHI CHAPTER)

DITTM (Delhi Chapter) is to provide academic opportunities to graduates and undergraduates directly and in collaboration with the leading institute and universities for successful career in holiday and leisure management, covering travel industry, tour operation, transportation, accommodation and interpretation services its objectives are to serve for total professionalisation of human resources engaged in the business of tourism through diplomas in tourism after graduation, specially designed practical training and field visit, foreign languages training programs , short term management Development Programs, Executive Development Programs for retired defence service personnel, workshops, seminars and conference, Tourism Orientation talk at school and college levels and Tourism Promotion Competition among young generation,

MAJOR PROGRAMME

The major academic program of DITTM (Delhi Chapter) is one year part-time Post Graduation Diploma in Travel and Tourism Industry Management. Graduates in any discipline are eligible for admission to the Diploma Course. It has the approval of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.

13. Tour Package Operations Management and Event Management

14. Project Report

# French Language is part of Diploma Course
